We are based in Howe Green, Chelmsford and our classes are run by owner Lynne Sharpe.

Lynne specialises in textile based workshops including sewing, dressmaking, feltmaking, needlefelting, knitting, crochet, lampshade making and home furnishings.

These courses are available in friendly group settings and are run as one offs as well as 6 week courses so that you can really get to grips with a skill.

Lynne has been sewing for over forty years and was taught to sew and knit by her mother and has since passed these skills on to her two daughters both of whom occasionally teach classes at The Make it Room.  Having left her job in the city to bring up her now grown up daughters she began making dressing up clothes for them and teaching her friends how to do the same for their children. Lynne then became one of a group of Resident Artist at Hylands House in Chelmsford for five years, teaching felting, sewing, embroidery, painted furniture and children's workshops. She started The Make It Room in late 2010 - fast forward ten years and it has become a full time job with a passion passing on her skills.

As well as teaching here, Lynne has taught at the Knit and Stitch Show at both Alexandra Palace and Olympia, and at the Sewing Bee Live Show at Excel, she regularly teaches at RHS Hyde Hall.
